Biography
Speaker's Photo Dr. Bar is Director of Studies at the Institute of Policy and Strategy in Herzliya and a founder of IntuView - an Israeli start-up company which is developing artificial intuition tools for real time document exploitation of Arabic language terrorist related documents. His current areas of study include: Jordanian, Syrian and Palestinian affairs, radical Islam and Terrorism, inter-Arab Politics, the Arab-Israeli Conflict and the Peace Process; Iranian defense doctrine and negotiation behavior. He is also a member of the organizing team of the annual "Herzliya Conference" and participates in deliberations of the Israeli National Security Council on areas relating to his expertise and experience. Dr. Bar retired (2003) after 30 years from service in the in the Israeli Security and Intelligence Community as an intelligence officer in the IDF and in the Office of the Prime Minister. During this period, he filled various senior staff and operational positions, including diplomatic posting in Europe. His last post was first secretary at the Israeli embassy in the Hague (1998-2002). Dr. Bar holds a Ph.D. in History of the Middle East from Tel-Aviv University (1989), M.A. (Magna cum Laude) in History of the Middle East from Tel-Aviv University (1984) and a B.A from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, 1974, in Jewish and Middle Eastern History. He has published numerous books and papers on Middle Eastern affairs, terrorism and radical Islam.
