Biography

Colonel Juan Carlos Forero Linares currently serves as J-2 Administrative Director at the Colombia Military Forces Joint Staff. He began his current assignment on January 03, 2006. Prior to this assignment, he served as G-2 of the Joint Task Force Omega, in Larandia (Caqueta).
Colonel Forero was born December 28, 1.961, in Bogotá D.C. In 1981, he graduated from the Army Military Academy as Second Lieutenant, Infantry Officer.
His profesional experience includes six years in combat operations as Infantry Platoon and Company Commander, B-2 Officer at Colombian Southern Joint Command, Executive Officer of Technical Intelligence Battalion, B-2 Officer in Brigade 14th, Intelligence Regional Commander, and Commander Technical Intelligence Central for the previous four years.
Colonel Forero's military education includes Arms and Services School, Military Intelligence Courses in Colombian Intelligence School, Command Course, and General Staff Course in Colombian War College.
Colonel Forero is Senior Officer of the Colombian Army Intelligence Branch. His awards and decorations include, among others: Medal for Distinguished Military Services (two times), Medal Multinational Force and Observers of Sinai, for distinguished services in Middle East, and Airborne Wins.
Colonel Forero is married with Elizabeth Rojas, and they have one girl, Maria Camila.
