Abstract

Lessons in early warning and tactical intelligence –
Lebanon 2006 - abstract

The roots of failure:

  1. The “Concept” – why did the Israeli intelligence fail again and why it didn’t learn the lessons of 1973, 1982 and 1991?
  2. Pluralism VS. professionalism
  3. Strategic and tactical surprises
  4. Early warning failure - Strategic warning against tactical threats
  5. “Cry Wolf”
  6. Intelligence training – G2’s and S2’s – are they qualified?

The solutions:

  1. Pluralism VS. professionalism
  2. Questions we should be asking:
    1. When was the last time Israel, the USA or any other western country fought a major land battle against a regular army?
    2. What do we train our field intelligence officers for?
  3. Reinventing the wheel – lessons of the past, not learned
  4. Classification of intelligence
  5. Flow of information and intelligence

6.       Analytical solutions
