Session TE14: Information Warfare
February 18, 14:00 - 14:45
Abstract:
Vulnerability management comprises two distinct challenges: late-stage vulnerability management, the management of vulnerability detection and remediation for known and understood product vulnerabilities, an activity that generally begins 24+ hours after a vulnerability first emerges; and early-stage vulnerability management, the management of vulnerability detection and remediation for new and emerging product vulnerabilities, beginning immediately upon the first report of a product vulnerability. Effective early-stage vulnerability management is extremely challenging, yet essential for high-value environments. This presentation focuses upon the challenges of early-stage vulnerability management, and some efforts towards their solution.
