Biography
Speaker's Photo Laurent Murawiec, 54, is a Senior Fellow at the Hudson Institute, the prominent Washington, D.C., think-tank. His career has covered a wide field of experience. He
  • taught philosophy in France, after completing his B.A., Phil, and M.A., Phil.
  • was a foreign correspondent in Germany and Central Europe for La Vie française, the French business weekly
  • co-founded and managed GeoPol Services, S.A., of Geneva, a consulting company that counted top multinationals and banks amongst its clients
  • taught the history of central economic planning at the prestigious Ecole des Hautes Etudes en sciences socials in Paris
  • joined the RAND Corporation as a Senior International Policy Analyst in 1999 as an expert on information warfare, the “Revolution in Military Affairs” and Trans-Atlantic relations
  • translated Carl von Clausewitz's On War into French
  • is the author of several acclaimed books: War in the 21 st Century [in French and in Chinese, Beijing]; The Spirit of Nations: Cultures and Geopolitics [in French]; La Guerre d'après [in English: Princes of Darkness: The Saudi Assault on the West]
  • has delivered important studies to the U.S. Department of Defense, most recently Vulnerabilities in the Chinese Way of War[2003] and The Mind of Jihad [2005].
  • has lectured at many of the world's top universities, and written opinion articles for the world press
  • is a member of the International Institute for Strategic Studies At the Hudson Institute, his main areas of research are: the strategic perspectives for Asia and U.S.-Asia relations; the war on terrorism, specifically the psychological and cultural determinants of modern jihad.
