Session IN12:
20 years of activities of Islamic groups in Belgium: from Islamic-nationalism to internationalization
February 18, 10:00 - 10:45
Abstract:
It is to demonstrate; after the dismantling of different networks since the 90's in Belgium, the process of globalization of the groups, via the ideological basis of the Taliban in London and Afghanistan. This is where the fusion amongst the different groups bearing the project of "Islamic Nationalism" took place and the holders of a "Global Islam" regrouped around Osama Bin Laden while structuring Al Qaeda, heir to the "Office of Services to the Moujahedin", which was founded during the Soviet conflict.
